Applying With Us

All department personnel have the option of serving in one of four assignment areas:

  1. Firefighter and/or Emergency Medical Responder (age 18 and above)
  2. Cadet (ages 14 to 18)
  3. Associate, which is for personnel who don’t want to respond to emergencies but who have other knowledge and skills to offer such as computer support, mechanics, and administration
  4. Auxiliary, which helps the department with various special needs.

Are we looking for new people?  Yes, we’re always on the lookout for people who meet our requirements.  Do we take everyone who applies?  No, we don’t.  We simply don’t have a problem with turning down applications.  Read our Mission Statement and you’ll see why.  Our somewhat stringent requirements and application process both prevent a lot of problems that (as the past has proved) take away from our ability to serve the public.  In other words, we’d rather focus on getting good people and be done with it so we can go out and do good things, rather than being constantly preoccupied with personnel problems.  Does this mean we’re looking for people who are just rubber stamps and who are afraid to speak up?  Absolutely not.  We welcome and relish people who continuously challenge the way we do things in the spirit of making them better.  So, if you think you’ve got what it takes, don’t let our requirements or application process discourage you from applying.  Do it!  The rewards are unbelievable.
